Mission, Vision & Values
The mission of Generations Health Association is to recognize and promote service recipient’s strengths and empower their recovery.
The vision of Generations is to continually develop the resources and structure to provide quality and cost-effective health care services, to facilitate recovery for the benefit of service recipients, their families, and their communities.
Generations will apply the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) definition of recovery in carrying out its mission and pursing its vision. The SAMHSA definition of recovery is:
“A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.”
Through its Recovery Support Strategic Initiative, SAMHSA has identified four major dimensions that support a life in recovery:
Health – Overcoming or managing one’s disease(s) or symptoms—for example, abstaining from use of alcohol, illicit drugs, and non-prescribed medications if one has an addiction problem— and for everyone in recovery, making informed, healthy choices that support physical and emotional wellbeing.
Home – A stable and safe place to live
Purpose – Meaningful daily activities, such as a job, school, volunteerism, family caretaking, or creative endeavors, and the independence, income and resources to participate in society
Community – Relationships and social networks that provide support, friendship, love, and hope
In accomplishment of this mission and pursuit of this vision Generations will adhere to a set of values that guide the organization in carrying out its everyday business activities; they are as follows:
Diversity – We value each person as a creation of God and, accordingly, within the scope of our professional capabilities, we will employ and serve people without regard to race, religion, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, or physical condition.
Empowerment – We value freewill and independence and therefore act to empower individuals and not to foster dependence in the delivery of our services. We also recognize everyone’s right to be listened to and heard regardless of their point of view. We recognize that everyone has a contribution to make.
Integrity – We value the laws and institutions of our community and country and have set forth a code of ethics and a plan of corporate compliance to be followed to ensure that we honor this value.
Accountability – We value fiscal responsibility and have set forth internal controls to ensure that resources are used efficiently in the course of pursuing our mission and vision accomplishment. We recognize that we are responsible for our own happiness and success.
Teamwork – We value our employees and strive to create an empowering “team work” environment. We realize that our success is dependent upon the collective energy and intelligence of all of our Team Members. We strive to create a work environment where motivated Team Members can flourish and succeed to their highest potential. We value knowledge and support our Team Members’ right to access information that impacts their jobs. We appreciate effort and reward results.
Quality – We value quality in the provision of services to those in need. We are responsible and own our successes and failures. We celebrate success and see failures as opportunities for improvement.
Social Responsibility – We value our community and respect the interests among all of our stakeholders. In this sense we acknowledge a “shared fate” with stakeholders and act in their interest as we act in our own.
